Home Depot – “Doomed Expo Design Center”
Pros
Great training, co-workers generally knowledgeable and helpful. Beautiful surroundings, great atmosphere to work in. Wonderful place to express your creativity. Great benefits for retail industry. Unfortunately, store division closed operations spring 2009.
Cons
Management sometimes backpedaled on decisions and wouldn't communicate to associates about these--found out only through the grapevine.
Advice to Senior Management
Too late now, but many fellow employees had three general questions about business practices. 1) Little to no advertising for Expo, 2) Charges for installation of materials very difficult to overcome compared to other installers in area, 3) Removing 'expediting' of orders and installations from stores to centralized location was cumbersome and inconvenient. Customers stated they wanted to deal with one or two people throughout process, but they could be involved with half a dozen or more trying to get an order or installation completed. Many complained to associates about this issue.
