    I worked at HomeShield Pest Control as a contractor (less than an year)

    Pros

    The company provides you with all tools and necessary safety Equipment. A Good active Workday. Varying job locations allow for each day to be unique.

    Cons

    Not much chance for advancement nor is there much incentive to strive beyond the minimum. This primarily a summer sales company and as such the actual service and the technicians that provide that service get shoved into the background. I often saw the door to door salesman and even sales managers making promises to customers that we the technicians were not able to deliver on or in some cases were flat out lies. For instance some homes in the area were built with pipes in the wall for a particular system of pest control that was provided by a different company. We did not provide that service to refill the pipes nor did we have the capability to do so if we wanted to, but I had the Sales Manager promise customers that we would do it simply to close the sale, instead of explaining to them how our service was superior. This left me having to explain to the customer that I wasn't able to deliver on what the salesman had promised them. Not good way to do business or look out for your employees.

    Improve your ethics and pay your technicians better.
