I have been working at Honeywell

    Pros

HPS has been stable enough throughout the economy with minimal lay offs and high cost cuttings.

    Cons

HPS doesn't seem to compensate the employees at the market rates though the company did exceedingly well in sales and share market in the past year, the management is more interested in acquiring other companies. Junior Engineers have minimal guidance and appreciation from the immediate bosses and are forced with unrealistic goals. Individual growth is hardly ever important though it is projected as its of the highest priority. As this is a product based business, the philosophy of depending on the strength and sale of the product rather than the Engineer who works on it is evident in compensation policies. Not recommended for junior/entry-level engineers

I have been working at Honeywell

    Pros

My job is flexible and allows self directed work if only because management doesn't understand what I do.

    Cons

The average engineer will struggle to navigate the many roadblocks to productivity.
Front line managers have almost ZERO decision making authority.
Current US design team is old, slow, and more interested in counting days than in creating great products.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is an unavoidable cost in attempting to transfer knowledge from a retiring domestic expert to an AsiaPac replacement. Distance matters when communicating. Consider this cost carefully as it must be paid again if the transfer fails.
