The Honeywell Phoenix Engines site has a culture that is apathetic and oppressive at best.

Health, Safety and Environmental Engineer II (Former Employee)
Phoenix, AZ

ProsHoneywell offers reasonable salaries and plenty of room for movement. Many of the Honeywell locations have numerous opportunities for training, as well.

ConsAlthough Honeywell offers competitive salaries, the benefits package is completely inadequate. They don't start contributing to your 401(k) until you have been contributing for at least 3 years, and then they only match at up to 3% of your salary at ~35 cents per dollar matching. They also have a very expensive medical insurance plan. The company is self insured, and they charge employees several hundred dollars each month for medical insurance that has a deductible of $8000 for a family; this effectively requires a family to spend ~$12,000 before the medical insurance pays anything at all.

The Honeywell Phoenix Engines site is an oppressive work environment. The employees that have been working there for many years are defeated and feel like no one cares about them or their opinions because management in unresponsive or very slow to respond. New employees are frustrated because they get no orientation or training, and then are "held accountable" for information they never had an opportunity to learn. The management system is very punitive, not supportive in any way. Employees are punished harshly, and tearing other people down in order advance yourself is encouraged.

Advice to Senior ManagementManagement would do well to focus on the culture of each site and infuence positive change actively. Any effort to make employees feel valued would be an improvement.
