Current Employee - Program Manager in Bangalore (India)
Current Employee - Program Manager in Bangalore (India)

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 8 years)

Pros

Traditionally a strong systems integrator from technology solutions perspective is a excellent workplace for research oriented engineering graduates (especially in the fields of aviation, specialty materials, industrial automation). With an agile leadership at top, it has been a remarkable journey for this company since 2003, be it winning investor confidence, sustaining employee morale while adapting to the changes dictated by era of cloud & competition.

Cons

It is bit of a challenge in this globalization era, to retain its DNA throughout its multi-site cross cultural workforce. Attracting right talent have been a formidable challenge for Honeywell, wherein lowering the guard is not a solution. Off late, India operations have been rescinded to a back office engineering services enabler(cost arbitrage) than seen as sharing the responsibility of the new age growth in these regions.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

1. Sacrificing growth for the want of right talent pool is appropriate than going through inefficient cycles of hire-fire.
2. Stagnation in developed market, can be offset by investing in strategic partnership development in emerging economies.
3. Vesting time bound accountability with the leaders of these locations , would bring in the necessary propulsion to growth targets.

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

    average Pay,
reputed company worldwide.& bangalore is only a cost centre - no stress on business targets

    Cons

    1. In recent years, salary gone below par with market conditions & lot of discrepancies/bargaining happens at HR/manager desk. There is nothing like you have earned hike/rewards unless you beg/threaten :) for it which was not the case in earlier years atleast pre 2009.
    2. Individual contributors take the major stress with onsite customers and are stressed hard without any rewards, You are lucky if you have escaped individual targetting, blame games, and overhead of defaming politics. Quite a few of my associates with strong skills chosen better destinations elsewhere which i feel very sad about it.
    3. Most of the time senior managers have no clue on the project situations & complexities and internal inter group project executions/interactions are pathetic.
