Current Employee - Supervisor in Spokane, WA
Current Employee - Supervisor in Spokane, WA

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Honeywell has deep pockets to weather economic downturns.
Many opportunities if you are willing to move.
Good paid holiday benefit.
Last of the big companies to have a pension (it's a pretty decent one, too)
Many opportunities within different business processes (Quality, Engineering, Supply Chain, Operations, Procurement, IT, etc.)

Cons

Health care benefits are not good - big changes in the past that is hurting all employees
The company does not promote a work life balance at all
It can take forever to get changes through the many systems that we have
No incentives for the common employee-operator through supervisor (no profit sharing, bonus scheme)
Improvement programs are being watered down - green belt program is not as robust and comprehensive as it used to be

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

High tech learning, there's still a pension plan.

    Cons

Old school management throughout. Employees mean little or nothing. Rigid chain of command similar to the military

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Before making another change in the organization, ask for employee input. Consider change teams that include more than people than just managers who are clueless regarding reality in the trenches.

    I worked at Honeywell full-time

    Pros

Diversified business, bright people, competitive benefits.

    Cons

Over focused on process at times - get lost in meetings and bureaucracy. Poor work-life balance in certain work groups. Knee jerk reactions in terms of census and budget management. Dog eat dog culture.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Employees are burning out from doing the work of 2 or 3 people. You will not be able to sustain this.
