I worked at Honeywell full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Senior management with consistency over time, great acumen for acquisitions, good focus on getting company positioned into markets with growth potential.

Just look at the stock price over last ten years, in good economies and bad ones, and you'll see the values and processes they put in place have worked.

Cons

Sometimes overly centrally controlled, often overly rigorous performance management system that does account for market reality.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep the focus, ensure you keep the people that make the business run. Account for work-life balance with younger employees as a way of keeping them.

I worked at Honeywell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Worked with some really great people. Company's benefits package was much better than most. Local management was very fair and offered a great work/ life balance.

    Cons

Not enough business development help from corporate to help grow the business or focus on growing individual skills of technical employees for increasing capabilities.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give your program managers more help in growing their businesses in addition to help with retaining their employees.

I worked at Honeywell full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

The job is stable as long as one reports meeting milestones in a progressive way. Reporting and process outweigh innovation. Much of the work is based on legacy work that probably should be deleted.

    Cons

Not the environment to be in for innovation because much of the developed is baselined on legacy projects. One inherits technology completed 20 years ago and attempts to refine and enhance. There is no real tool evaluation and/or training. If you want to use the latest and best tools, Honeywell is definitely not the place for this.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Have the courage to quite and join an innovate company.
