Good work-life balance, average salary, diminishing IT skills

Current Employee - Architect in Bangalore (India)
Current Employee - Architect in Bangalore (India)

I have been working at Honeywell full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

Very good work-life balance, most managers are employee friendly. There is always an opportunity to explore yourself into new technology areas. If you are working in the area of Honeywell's core business (control systems, aerospace etc, but not IT), pay will be higher. No variable component for non-executive lever

    Cons

Diminishing IT skills directly causes poor quality of deliverables. Frequent resurfacing of software issues after a few months in production.

Mid level IT managers, although people friendly, lacks leadership skills or vision.

Too many processes (borrowed from manufacturing industry and applied to IT service business). But, in most projects, a java developer can freely add a column into a table!

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Big data is not the answer to every IT problems in this world

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Approves of CEO
