Pros

Allowed to work from home part-time, Vacation time after the first year is good. Benefits and pay are about average for a company of this size and industry type.

Cons

Health insurance is a little pricey and the way they pay things are a little skewed. Performance reviews are inconsistent and not done fairly. Management plays favoritism's for reviews and promotions. The review process changed 3 times in the 2.5 years I worked there. Never knew what system you were graded on. Not that it mattered because management can give you any value regardless of what the numbers say.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Work on Morale within the organization on a daily/weekly basis and not a yearly basis. You have some great people working there, listen to them.

    Pros

    Decent starting salary for the area
    Ok benefits - 401K match, pension, ok health insurance
    Initial training can be good depending on who you get
    Some of the best co-workers I ever had
    Company pays for some industry and college courses

    Cons

    1-2% raises for most with little opportunity to move into higher paying position
    Performance reviews very inconsistent across teams and many managers play favorites
    Promotions given based more on who you know than how you perform
    Work distribution very uneven with some reps receiving near unmanageable workloads while others sit around and talk all day
    Poor overall management both at home office and regional office level
    Lots of college kids and few experienced reps on the floor due to high turnover

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    You have some good employees listen to their feedback and make changes before people start leaving instead of constantly promising it will get better, but not taking any action. There needs to be more transparncy in how work is distributed and how employees are promoted or given increases, otherwise you best employees will continue to leave, because they do not feel valued or that they have any hope of improving their position at the company.

    Pros

    The niche market of educators

    Cons

    When you work very hard to build a client base, it is extremely frustrating when the company constantly creates problems with policies and has poor home office customer service. No matter how hard I worked to provide great service to my clients, the processing part always was a problem. The company is very behind in their methods and it became embarrassing to represent such a poorly run company. The management would not even respond to call or emails about important case issues or client complaints.

    Offer more support to your agents and involve yourself in the agency you are said to "manage"
