Great history, but senior leadership not poised to sustain growth or reputation

Anonymous Employee (Current Employee)

I have been working at Hormel

ProsStable company
Conservative financials with virtually no debt
Good customer relationships
Strong execution mentality
Familiar brands
Good people overall
Good responsibility record

ConsHR has hamstrung the organization and lacks the talent to position the company for a changing business environment
Senior leadership team is a mixed bag of accidental appointments. Many would not have the qualifications to apply for their job in a peer company.
Talks about innovation but does not deliver.
Company says it respects the individual, then promotes bullies.
Underperforming employees are allowed to stay in positions for years or are repeatedly transferred to other departments with the same results.

Advice to Senior ManagementWalk the walk. Even those of us with shorter tenure see the inconsistency between words and action.
Leadership seems to have consensus for everything, which means nothing move forward.
Seniority with the company just means people carry favorites and grudges with them for years.
What worked in the past is not going to work in the future. Fear that the "glory days" for the company will be in the rear view mirror with this senior level executive leadership.

No, I would not recommend this company to a friend
