I have been working at Hospira full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Colleagues commiserate together and bond because of it. Hospira (San Diego) is located in a ritzy office building, which makes little sense as its not a customer facing site. It's the only medical device company i've heard of that shares office space with wealth management companies.

    Cons

Terrible upper management structure. Often managers are promoted out of their sweet spot and unsupported to lead. It has become a giant CF of the blind leading the blind. The SD (R&D) location is treated as a second class citizen from the mother ship (HQ in Chicago). There is no energy in the work place, it makes the movie office space seem fun, youthful and exciting...in such a bad way.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Teach and support your managers at all levels, brighten up the place with incentives and rewards. Stop nickel and diming the talent. Hospira pays bottom level rates for top level demands, they wind up training people to up and leave as soon as their resume looks good. Retention is horribly bad and conversions of contractors is slim to none. Kelly Services is the contracting company and they may even be worse!

    Doesn't Recommend
    Negative Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO
