Pros

steady work. if you are starting out it has a lot of opportunities for advancement.

Cons

Like any position within a large company you have to be selective of who you work for.

Advice to Management

Go back to re-hiring former employees. I would work for you.

    Pros

Coworkers are a close knit group. The plant I worked at was in beautiful Austin Texas.

    Cons

Management is clueless. No recognition for those who step up in their current roles. Simply an expendable commodity to management. "No Re-hire" policy implemented by HR manager who was re-hired....very hypocritical.

    Advice to Management

Develop, mentor, and nurture your staff. They are the next wave of leaders for your company. Pay competing wages in the pharma industry.

    Pros

no pros if you have immigration things to be handled

    Cons

    - Immigration department sucks in Hospira all over
    - HR know no BS about immigration and they create problems to immigrants intentionally
    - They don't care if you are immigrant
    - It takes forever to file GC
    - HR delays the H1 renewals, H1 transfers and then it costs thousands of dollars to expedite the process
    - Immigration department at Hospira is piece of work (they don't know why they exist)
    - Why would you not attract the better talent to build a better product for the company? Why not to make to attractive to immigrants?

    Advice to Management

    - If you want to keep the best talent or attract best talent first fix the immigration department
    - Don't you wonder why big companies get their technologies faster in the market with better quality? - partly because of immigrants (see the statistics)
    - Fix the immigration dept! (did I say that?)
    - Hire the HR which understand what immigration work involves
    - Reboot your immigration department
