Could be a great company but does not reward loyal employees

I worked at Hospital Corporation of America full-time (More than 3 years)

Pros

flexibility with schedule, nice coworkers, gaining experience within a very large organization, centrally located among restaurants and shopping

Cons

loyalty is not rewarded- to earn a competitive salary you have to switch companies because of the strict cap imposed on HR promotions, some micro-management practices, typical corporate red tape and unending tiers of approvals.

Advice to Management

Reward loyalty. Let employees be more autonomous. Foster a more progressive culture.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Hospital Corporation of America full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay scale is above average Benefits offered are good and decently priced Cross train to learn new jobs Community involvement Offer little extras (ice cream social, lunch bag) throughout year to staff Good place to get some experience but not a company for a career

    Cons

Most open positions are PRN without benefits Lot of flexing, if full time very seldom work a 40 hour week Lay off staff often, especially those with many years and over 60 Outsource many departments High stress level with fewer staff performing more duties Push department management to cut staff

    Advice to Management

You act like you care about and appreciate your staff but the only thing you really care about is those daily money numbers.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Compensation was above average Great Benefits package Company is solid, making money Flexible schedule

    Cons

They will work you to death and there is no work/life balance. Management acts as if they are too good to roll up their sleeves and work. Instead, subordinates are expected to do the work of several people often resulting in long hours and overtime. Although they offer a flexible schedule, the workload rarely permits you to take advantage.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention and do some investigating as to what is really going on at "corporate" locations that are not located in Nashville, but rather in remote locations.
