    Pros

Nice ambiance, non corporate atmosphere, friendly co workers, small business feel, good location, good reputation, good benefits, competitive pay, nice park across the street.

    Cons

Union, many employees have parked there for years doing the minimum necessary to get by, non motivating upper level management who does not interact very much with staff or stay current with hotel or management trends. Stuck in years of history and ways of doing things.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your office half an hour every day and circulate with all your staff (even room cleaners), learning, motivating, thanking. Blow off the cobwebs and shake things up, it's not the 1990's anymore. Challenge yourself to learn something new and to do a better job leading by example.

    Pros

    - Great opportunities for those wishing to get exposure to the Hospitality/Hotel industry on a micro level
    - Allows one the chance to work in a variety of different departments (Such as Food and Beverage, Operations, Housekeeping, Engineering and Sales), thus giving one exposure to different departmental environments that require vastly different skill sets.
    - Great service oriented environment that will aid associates in developing their personal and interpersonal skills in a fast paced environment.
    - Dynamic atmosphere as far as the type of work one does there. Not a normal nine to five, Monday through Friday job where one is relegated to a cubicle

    Cons

    - Limited schedule flexibility.
    - Pay is low for what job requires of management.
    - consistently on call as management
    - With the exception of sales, most departments require all employees to work on holidays and weekends.
    - Very few opportunities for advancement within the company.
    - High turnover numbers on both the front line, service level and in mid level and high level management positions.
    - Lack of business cultural consistency. Culture changes from year to year in relation to high turn over numbers.

    Advice to Management

    - Create an emphasis on work/life balance so that employees can distances themselves from work when they are not at work and can come back to work feeling refreshed and re-energized
    - Compensate your managers more financially and create better incentives packages for front line employees.
    - Strive to create a stronger business culture by retaining your mid-level and top-level managers for more than one year.
