I worked at Hunton & Williams
Pros – A professionally rewarding experience. Good benefits in comparison to the relative market. Fabulous facilities, including on-site Lawyers' Dining Room and a great law library. International presence of this firm and its well known reputation make it a number one choice for law students graduating from prestigious law schools throughout the U.S.
Cons – Work & Life balance is difficult to achieve for those further down in the ranks. Employees may think they are making progress & achieving goals, but when it is time to thin out their ranks, they can be somewhat ruthless in their methods.
Advice to Senior Management – Give thorough orientation with regards to each Section's goals & preferences to new employees. Provide more adequate detail of time billing expectations & formats to utilize in each section and advise new employees to inquire about specific billing practices required with regards to certain clients, as the firm may have agreed with those clients when new matters/projects are assigned. Don't look for ways to insult employees' intelligence or competency only to use them to urge employees to feel unacceptable & serve to usher them to leave under duress.
