Pros

Working with great people who care about what they do. The opportunity to grow if you show you have the passion, ability and motivation. An ethical business that puts its clients and customers first - believing its about long term relationships not short term deals.

Cons

Its a place for self starters - people who need lots of structure and process will find it difficult. Owner managed business isn't to everyone's liking.

  1. Take the time to understand contracting. Don't just look at the positives or the negatives as there are some of each.

    Pros

Contracting with Huntswood can be challenging but it is a great opportunity to learn new skills, earn a good amount of money and enhance your CV by working for a big financial institution. It's also a great way to meet people and get loads of new connections. It can also be long term work - projects are long term and when one ends you look for the next. Contracting is becoming a popular long term career choice due to earning potential and flexibility to influence the type of work you take up.

    Cons

The training period is succinct so make the most of it. In your development period you need to be ready to work longer hours as you'll be slower to meet your daily target. This should pick up realy quicky. It's important to meet your target consistently otherwise you will be at risk. But targets are achievable and you get support from your manager and the qualit assurance teams. There's also overtime available once your know your stuff, so you can earn extra days' pay every week!

    Advice to Management

Continue to explain project demands to first time contractors clearly so they understand the environment - working on a big contractor project is different to permanent work or temping and it takes a little time to 'get it'

  2. A great organisation to be a part of.

    Pros

Flexi-time was a great thing to have as it allows flexibility with your working life and allows you to have a good personal-work balance.

    Cons

Sometimes the workload can be a bit pressuring, and the training period was short and very intense.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work- organisational values are prominent in the day to day running and staff and managers alike get on well.
