Pros

Money and job-title inflation. You can get in and be assigned responsibilities far beyonf your experience

Cons

Money and work hours. Punishing deadlines. Lots of responsibility without the authority to execute or to push back.

Advice to Management

You are going to burn this dump to the ground in another couple of years

    Pros

Decent people at Huron Consulting Group

    Cons

Significant variation across practices and offices. Since they are a public company, management's focus is on meeting Wall Street -- not on developing its people.

    Advice to Management

    Go private
Build a real company, not a collection of small practices

    Pros

The culture is very young and collegiate. The people are generally nice and are willing to teach you. They have a coaching system that mentors young staff. Depending on what division you fall into, the work can be very interesting. The management at the service line level do try look out for you.

    Cons

Depending on the service lines, the work can range from interesting to down right boring. The compensation structure is similar to the Big Four accounting firm so it's below the average for some of the divisions. They have a big issue with retention as employees don't stay past 2 years. Again, this may be due to compensation and the lack of interesting work. Huron tries to invest in their people, but they do not have management that can sell the work. A lot of the consultants are sitting empty doing busy work instead of actual work.

    Advice to Management

Senior Management needs to sell some interesting work to keep their junior staff motivated and busy.
