I worked at Hy-Vee part-time (more than a year)

Pros

You can work your way into a management roll fairly quick. The work is not very stressful. The people you work with are pretty awesome. As a student they worked around my hours extremely well. The working conditions were awesome.

Cons

There really isn't many downsides. Just a lot of stocking shelves, and cleaning the meat room. Cleaning everything really. If you don't like blood you probably shouldn't work in the meat department. It could have paid a little better.

Keep up the good work!

I have been working at Hy-Vee part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They are one of the few employers to offer part-time benefits *if you qualify*
    Flexible Scheduling *within means*

    Cons

somewhat stuck in the uniform department (broaches and ribbons required for women to wear with button down shirt)
Majority of the events/discounted events occur in IA, and don't really move from store to store in the other states it operates in

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep working on trying to be the best but also try to figure out ways employees can have input on decisions before you make new policies...

    I worked at Hy-Vee part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Family oriented company. Flexible work schedules.

    Cons

Little opportunity to become a full time employee unless you're looking for a management position. Younger employees tend to dress sloppy.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Floor manager's do more standing around and talking about employees behind their backs than they do work. Cash register's should be facing in 2 different directions making them both left and right handed. Rubber floor mats behind all registers would be a plus. Hire more full time employees. Dress code should be the same in every store.
