I have been working at Hy-Vee part-time (less than a year)

Pros

Management does a good job of working around school schedules. Good working environment. Fun atmosphere and good place to meet new friends. The time passes very fast when it gets busy.

Cons

the pay could be better. It can get a little cold at times.

    Pros

    excellent benefits
    most managers are good people
very good for a survival job

    Cons

many entry level managers are promoted before they are ready and aren't held accountable
on night stock, many coworkers are losers who either don't show up for work or can't do a very simple task to competent levels

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Watch who you hire and promote, your employees can make or break you.

I have been working at Hy-Vee part-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

They are one of the few employers to offer part-time benefits *if you qualify*
    Flexible Scheduling *within means*

    Cons

somewhat stuck in the uniform department (broaches and ribbons required for women to wear with button down shirt)
Majority of the events/discounted events occur in IA, and don't really move from store to store in the other states it operates in

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Keep working on trying to be the best but also try to figure out ways employees can have input on decisions before you make new policies...
