I worked at Hyatt full-time (less than an year)

Pros

Overall Hyatt is a great company to work for and my 2 years prior to my experience at Grand Hyatt Denver were fantastic.

- Great benefits, free room nights, ect.
- Great room for career and personal growth
- Free meals
- Mostly friendly staff

Cons

- Unorganized
- Almost no training
- No coaching
- Departments refuse to work together
- Terrible employee morale
- Long and odd hours - short turnarounds on shifts

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Ensure your new hires or transfers are provided the proper tools to perform the tasks they are assigned. You can't expect someone to just walk in and know it all.

I have been working at Hyatt full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Free Rooms ever year at any 4 star Hyatt or higher up to 12 a year, really a great perk if you are a person who travels. Free lunch every day, while most of the time the food you don't want to touch and I'm pretty sure the place would fail a random health inspection, it does save a lot of money and very convenient when worrying about what food to pack for work is not even a thought. The hours for the most part are flexible and consistent. A great training facility for the individual who wants to gain leadership skills and be promoted.

    Cons

like most big box hotels pay isn't the best, the hotel cares more about quantity over quality. Meaning they prefer to cut pay to hire two employees rather then gain one quality employee that will work hard. At the end of the day typical it fills like a place where you over worked and under paid.

I have been working at Hyatt full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are cool and from diverse areas, free hotel rooms is a good benefit the Hyatt offers, Health insurance is good and low priced.

    Cons

VERY political. The only people who get ahead are the brownnosers, regardless of competency. Very, very low wages and company tends to abuse you with scheduling - either too much or too little ( all full timers, for example, were only given 3 days or less during slow times in the hotel- they don't care whether you make a living or not)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be more appreciative of your lower hourly workers. We are the ones that make the Hyatt special in the eyes of the guests, not you.
