    I worked at Hydro One

    Pros

-The money is good, with the right skill set you can easily make well into 6 figures a year
-My manager there was good about allowing me time off for vacation or personal reasons
-If you're lazy and like to get paid to sit around doing almost nothing, this place is for you
-Company has deep pockets, and does do some very large projects

    Cons

I was very unimpressed with this place:
-You sit in a chair for long periods of time with nothing to do, company moves very slow
-Management brings highly skilled specialists on board and has them doing menial tasks or sitting around being paid for doing nothing
-Hiring process was painfully slow, long wait to be interviewed, very long wait for an offer
-Management doesn't listen when you ask for relevant work to do, I was ignored or handed ridiculous tasks that were a complete waste of time I had no idea why I was even being paid to be there
-Management doesn't offer any assistance on the process of "how" to do what little work, I was ridiculously highly paid trash can for all the junk tasks their full time people didn't want to do and I was told this was typical at Hydro....for example asking an IT security audit expert who gets paid $100/hr to setup desktop PC's for users, or to inspect the datacentre to make sure there's enough power and AC, or write endless lists and documents no one ever reads
    -Typical Union culture nonsense

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Contractors who are awarded lucrative long term contracts, often leave early to escape boredom and frustration. Make sure people you hire on actually have a purpose. There are so many people working there that do absolutely nothing, why are they still employed?

I have been working at Hydro One

    Pros

Salary and benefits are above average.

    Cons

Work may be mundane. You will need to have the right manager.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Utilize your employees. Hydro One has many great resources, but management seems to not allow these talented individuals to utilize their skills.
