I have been working at Hyland full-time (more than 3 years)

    Pros

The "culture" and laid back attitude.
    Good company to start career
Perks... Onsite diner, coffee, haircuts etc

    Cons

Not a good place to advance career experience and/or time served is more important than qualificiations
    Value experience over education/training

Take the time to actually train and promote management
Compensation is a joke. Compensation is, on average, 25% to 33% under market value

The overall incompetence of management is shocking for how successful the company is it seems like there is a clique mentality and that is how "promotions" are based instead of based on qualifications (education ie degrees (Bachelor's, Master's, phD), training (Certifications))

The lack of direction with the product and overall enhancements. While the product is great at what it does it isn't really earth-shattering.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Actually promote individuals that have the qualifications to be a manager not just those who management "thinks" can do the job. Value degrees and education higher and don't inform individuals that education/degrees are useless without education.

Listen to those individuals that have knowledge of a product or module and don't dismiss their opinion immediately just because they aren't a "team lead" or manager.

Don't be afraid of those smarter than you. It would seem that anyone with ambition and talent to match is told they have to move in a lateral fashion until it is "their turn"

    Recommends
    Negative Outlook
    No opinion of CEO
