Pros

great place to work pay is excellent. Work Environments are clean and safe. Hyundai has become an extremely successful brand and job security is intact.

Cons

Long Hours plant shutdowns angry floor managers. Management often overlook experience for employees with an education. Pay could be better.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote from within, I don't want to be passed up by a new graduate that earns a promotion based on his paperwork over experience

    I worked at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    Benefits are on par with any UAW job. Pay is equal as well. The hourly team members are awesome.

    Cons

    Korean culture is very hard to deal with at times. The seem to get stuck on stupid, very patriarical

    Appreciate what you have and where you are. The outside is not as green as you may think

    I worked at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama as an intern (more than 8 years)

    Pros

    You get paid overtime for everything over 8 hours even if your on salary.
    Your working hours are 6:30 to 3pm
    You get paid double time to come in on Sundays to paint post and sweep floors
    If your a recent grad it looks great on your resume
    Onsite full service bank
    Onsite doctor
    Onsite gym
    Onsite softball and baseball field
    Company pays for your uniforms
    You can get your eye glasses ordered and shipped directly to the plant
    Salary team members get to use salary continuation, which means you can take time off work for dr appointments and medical issues without having to burn personal and vacation days
    You get amazing discounts on Hyundai cars, in some cases 15k off msrp
    You get a week off for Christmas and another week off during the summer
    They offer onsite training for Microsoft office software based on your skill level via a third party
    The plant is very clean and safety is taken serious
    Your weekly activity report is only a two sentence statement
    You have a beginning and end of shift communication meeting in the department to share information
    The team members in the plant are some of the best people you could ever ask to work with

    Cons

    If you accept relocation assistance you have to sign a two year contract not to leave the company
    30 minute lunch
    Departments have postponed filling a vacant assistant manager or manager position until the person they want to have the job meets the minimum requirements
    The workload isn't divided equally among the staff
    You will have to depend on your coworkers to train and develop you instead of your direct supervisor.
    Getting unrealistic time lines to complete complicated tasked happens alot
    Your often given task that the person assigning you the task can't perform themselves or provide clear direction on how to complete them, but will blame you for not performing it correctly
    Your annual reviews will seldom happen during the company scheduled time frame
    You will often be given task and asked to make decisions above your job classification
    Positions in other departments are often protected, meaning if a job is posted in another department a key qualification to apply for it is that you must already be in that department.
    Written policies are not applied equally
    An idea for improvement is only as good as the person that presents it

    Put people in place that can actually perform the task they assign to the people that report to them. Reward the hard workers and terminate the slackers
