Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Geneva (Switzerland)

I worked at IATA full-time (more than 3 years)

Pros

The salary package and benefits are generally good. Especially for junior staff the salaries are often way above market.
There are many nice and dedicated people

Cons

The senior management rules by fear... Numerous restructurings followed by recruitment campaigns that gives the impression that no planning or mid/long-term strategy is in place. If you think about the millions wasted.. Employees are over-worked and management shows no respect what so ever to the work-life balance of the employees. You don't want to work 12-14 hours per day? Well off you go...

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Lets hope that with the arrival of Tony Tyler things will change.. He seems much more human than the previous DG... But without making some additional changes at the senior management level, not sure he will get there...

Former Employee - Administrative Assistant in Montreal, QC (Canada)

I worked at IATA full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

Colleagues are from all over the world and generally very motivated. Relatively relaxed atmosphere, great location in downtown Montreal and very nice building. HR is able to fast-track foreign employees and also provide free French classes through the Québec government. Clubs allow for getting to know employees outside of work.

    Cons

Management, and senior management especially, was often disorganized and very last minute. Micromanaging on the part of senior managers. Employees come and go - lots of turnover. There's a lack of job security.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please be better organized, consider retaining employees rather than retraining temps, micromanage less and leave it to middle managers.
