Former Employee - Intern, IATA Distance Learning Support in Montreal, QC (Canada)
Former Employee - Intern, IATA Distance Learning Support in Montreal, QC (Canada)

I worked at IATA part-time (less than a year)

Pros

Opportunity for students that are still in university and new grads; opportunity to work inside a major organization and gain a lot of knowledge of the air transport industry.

Cons

As soon as you are done an internship they can easily forget about you; they hire a lot of interns because they are a lot "cheaper" than full-time permanent employees.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Give for chance for interns to grow in the company.

Former Employee - Administrative Assistant in Montreal, QC (Canada)

I worked at IATA full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

Colleagues are from all over the world and generally very motivated. Relatively relaxed atmosphere, great location in downtown Montreal and very nice building. HR is able to fast-track foreign employees and also provide free French classes through the Québec government. Clubs allow for getting to know employees outside of work.

    Cons

Management, and senior management especially, was often disorganized and very last minute. Micromanaging on the part of senior managers. Employees come and go - lots of turnover. There's a lack of job security.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Please be better organized, consider retaining employees rather than retraining temps, micromanage less and leave it to middle managers.
