Pros

sometimes the disorganization can work in your favor. some of the mid-level editors / managers are great to work with and are doing what they can. flexible work at home policy.

Cons

overall an unhappy environment. virtually no one is proud to work there and is actively looking for other positions. everyone is overworked, and any good reporting/stories are undercut by awful site design / reputation as quasi content farm. being paid once a month, on the 5th of the month (never really clear on why that was) adds unnecessary stress to workers.

Advice to Management

pay people a wage that actually reflects cost of living; reconsider the dirty tricks / SEO / autoplay ads model

Toxic-Do you want to work at a place where a ranking editor files a complaint with the Labor Department?

    Pros

Its a great way to get published work out there and you have some leeway to write interesting stories. But that comes at a huge price and you will soon realize what you are getting yourself into. Just look at all the reviews people have posted in the past.

    Cons

Where to begin: If you ask any past or present employee they will tell you this place is like an abusive relationship. They really treat you horribly here.... I hate to sound so cynical but I look at other employees and I do not know how they put up with the daily BS. Top editors and management are too scared and worried about their own jobs that they will sell you under the bus. Employees get fired left and right for no reasons and it could come out of nowhere. One week you are getting praised and the next you are getting threatened by your editors that you will be getting fired.

No one really cares here and the CEO, seemingly pleasant and nice, are incompetent, or are just looking to make a quick buck and get out and sell the company.

Most of what you read at IBTimes.com is really BS and know one really does any reporting.

You will most likely spend more than 60 hours a week there maybe more and not get compensated at all for your hard work only to be reprimanded the next day for some small thing.

    Advice to Management

I wish I could give advice, but how can you do that when management treats its employees like garbage...If you do not believe me google IBT media and you will find several stories on this place. They are all true and actually even worse.

    Pros

Great colleagues that mutually understand each others' frustrations. Bagels (usually) every other Wednesday. Some freedom to develop clips for a better job.

    Cons

Management only cares about hits and traffic. Sure they'll demand "quality," but as soon as traffic dips, they'll contradict themselves and resort to complain more about traffic and output. All of this happens without taking into consideration the context of historical traffic patterns and current tasks assigned and/or dumped from another department.

    Advice to Management

Learn to run a media company beyond spreadsheets and analytics. The current "beat with a stick" environment is toxic and not conducive to meaningful growth.
