I have been working at IBISWorld full-time

Pros

IBIS provides a great workplace with many opportunities to learn from seasoned professionals. Great team that has each others best interests at heart.
Fun atmosphere, with get togethers every Friday at 4:30PM.

Cons

Some work functions are over the top but people enjoy themselves, which is admirable.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Don't filp flop on standards. Stick to your guns, the company has been successful so far.

Great company that treats employees as real people, not numbers

Current Employee - Business Development Manager in New York, NY

I have been working at IBISWorld full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    - Everyone is cheering for everyone else to succeed, true team culture
    - In sales, ample opportunity to make solid money if willing to put in the effort
    - Management encourages communication amongst all staff, regardless of position or role, which creates a true learning environment

    Cons

Growing company faces typical challenges of rapid growth. If you're an easy-going individual, they won't bother you (i.e. changing desks regularly to accommodate new hires, etc)

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Continue on the trajectory you are currently on. Keep hiring individuals who are excited for the opportunity to work on Wall Street in a fun environment.

    A slowly sinking ship

Current Employee - Anonymous Employee in Santa Monica, CA

I have been working at IBISWorld full-time

    Pros

Casual dress (although, this is slowly being phased out)

Working a few blocks from the beach (this is also changing, as the company is moving to Wilshire/Barrington...aka crowded, noisy, congested and uninspiring West LA

Friday happy hours where we get out early with company-provided drinks (although, more and more, these are turning into extended meetings where management asks you to perform market research or other work-related things. Happy hour shouldn't be about work, it should be fun. Don't advertise happy hour and getting out early on Friday if you're going to turn it into work.

    Cons

Company values quantity over quality - don't expect to gain any deeper understanding of economic concepts and research techniques beyond very basic ones - you won't have enough time to anyway.

Upper management is passive aggressive and views analysts as a commodity.

Upper management is totally disconnected to what analysts do, and what their experience is with the office.

Instead of addressing the actual concerns of analysts, upper management will instead pass around M&Ms randomly during the work day, or make you participate in a scavenger hunt in downtown Santa Monica, or push a "Twin Day" at the office.

No real place to move up. All management positions go to Australians, with very few exceptions.

Company does not provide parking for its employees

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen to the concerns of analysts and work in good faith to at least address some of them. Quit treating your employees like they are in summer camp (i.e. making us go on scavenger hunts or having "dress like this person" day). We're not kids and we can see right through the tactics.
