I have been working at IBM full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Great benefits like 401K, Health/Dental. Competitive salary for new hires and great training program. Diverse workforce, smart people and managers, culture is great -- as well as a nice work/life balance -- when you aren't trying to meet a deadline

    Cons

Raises are minimal, performance reviews are done by project managers, while promotions are done by managers whom you rarely see. High ulitizalition targets, and bonuses do not reflect the hard work and long hours.

    Recommends
    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at IBM full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Global company with the potential to contribute to the development of their employees.

    Cons

Fragmented into fiefdoms. Those that advance are more sycophant than able. Management is so focused in their quarterly survival and political posturing, that they have little time to actually work. Management mostly operates by the belief that if they shoot others' lights out, theirs will shine brighter. Definitely no longer Gestner's IBM.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Promote based on ability not nepotism and ability to suck up.
