I have been working at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Stable Corporate Environment and professional place. You do meet a lot of good people and also some not-so-nice aggressive competitive people. You do have chance to learn a lot of things via your assigned work. However, you will encounter some employees who have been with IBM too long and still have the old mentality set of base on seniority and ranks.

    Cons

"It is difficult to ask an elephant to dance, but it is not impossible. "

    Advice to Management

not always those who can speak in every meeting are good employees.

I worked at IBM full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good training ground for new graduates. Especially in consulting, a chance to learn a lot by working with many clients.

    Cons

You get locked in into one area of specialization and industry - difficult to then work with clients in other industries if you want to Opaque career level ("band") structure and salary levels associated with them - no manager ever showed what is the salary range for a band; you have to guess or figure out from colleagues what is possible. Very slow and opaque promotion process Low salaries compared to similar companies; good benefits though. Grueling schedule for consultants, driven by utilization requirements that sometimes were 100% A lot of things sound good on paper (benefits, mentorship programs) but they are not realized after that
