I have been working at IBM full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

IBM has a very strong enterprise culture pretty much uniform across the world. And this is probably one of the reasons for the continuous success over the last 100 years. Innovation is known as key success factor and employees are encouraged to do that. In the market IBM and IBMers are respected and have overall a very good image. It's good to have IBM in your resume. It's a huge company so there is a broad range of diverse professional opportunities, and in several different places around the Globe. Challenge is always the word of the day, so you get to learn from adversity. Compensation it's not the best in the market but it's good. Benefits are ok as well.

    Cons

Huge company, huge amount of processes. Sometimes it's hard to get something done. Compensation and benefits could be better in order to keep talent. You start your career and you want to learn and grow. So far, so good. Overtime, these same professionals have accumulated tons of knowledge and experience and have different priorities. This is the point that IBM may not be able to satisfy these professional priorities anymore. And they leave.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Look closely and more carefully to IBM's human assets. The company needs young and hungry people, but also needs seasoned professionals willing to stay.
