I have been working at IBM full-time (more than a year)

    Pros

    Top management is smart
Company is well run and very profitable

    Cons

Too many lifers that have titles only because of their seniority
Lots of below mediocre people at the middle and lower levels
Much lower than industry standard compensation
Moving up the ladder is hard
    Very very political

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Your lower level is rotting and this doesn't bode well for the company's future. Make sure you pay better and put in an effort to retain people

I have been working at IBM full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, but raises limited to top performers.

    Cons

Increased only given to top contributors.
PBC (appraisal) system is flawed and is based on a skew to meet IBM's financial objectives rather than employee's contribution.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Develop new appraisal system which is based solely on employee's contribution. Remove the tie to financials. Most employees would rather get a fair appraisal and no money that a bad appraisal to justify no money.
