Pros

The IBM company is committed to upholding a very high level of integrity when it comes to the way they handle their business

Cons

The con of working at IBM right now is that they seem to be losing sight of work life balance.

I have been working at IBM full-time (more than 8 years)

    Pros

IBM is the traditional big company, but it embraces new ideas. IBM does so much that you can work on almost anything and still work at IBM. There are also external perks like discounts for rental cars, celular phone plans, and broadband internet.

    Cons

The focus is big metrics as opposed to overall holistic information quality. This could result in lots of data rather than information. Just search for a product on the IBM web site.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Focus more on technical expertise rather than some of the exposure politics for technical band 9 types.

I worked at IBM full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Flexibility to work from home is only Pro. Sub-standard pay for the grunts who do the work. Unreasonable bosses and expectations despite consistently "professional demeanor" exhibited.

    Cons

You will waste valuable years thinking you can advance but you CAN'T unless you have an "IN"... and then you wiull be shown the door once your pay gets to a point where they can get someone cheaper. You learn NOTHING but how to work for IBM. Experience there looks good on a resume but no practical benefit to you whatsoever.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Laugh in your employee's faces instead of behind their backs -- at least it'll be honest.
