Former Employee - Extreme Blue Intern in Dublin, Dublin (Ireland)

I worked at IBM as an intern (less than an year)

    Pros

Work with three fellow interns, making project decisions amongst yourselves. Freedom to choose implementation details for your project. Very helpful mentors and managers. Decent salary for an Intern. The available projects to choose from were very interesting the year I was working there. Very good job prospects when you complete the internship, all of the interns who had just completed their final year in college went on to get full-time employment with IBM.

    Cons

Office location is much less than ideal, with an hour and a half bus ride each way from the city centre.

I worked at IBM full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    1. Work from home - flexibility
    2. Freedom - gives abundant time to complete certain unit of work.
    3. package - Normal one as other companies do - not much to expect
    4. Onsite chances - if you are lucky.
    5. Brand value
    6. Respect - which you get with the clients

    Cons

    1. Low package - which is normal across similar companies. - But this is not the company where you can expect more than normal
    2. There are only limited leaves per year - 22 I think which can't be even used fully since utilization % may go down.
    3. Getting relieved from a project would be a headache, sometime this may lead to put down your papers .

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

IBM, I would say is purely a manager driven company. If you are close with your manager and little perfect with your work then you can reach skies........
