I worked at IBM

Pros

Exposure to a global workforce environment, the ability to have many careers within one company, the ability to work and learn from a lot of smart people

Cons

the higher you go in your career, the more time you spend on internal process and procedure.
Process and procedure sometimes prevents you from being able to perform at a level that will gain you the recognition you need for advancement, job functions can be very siloed and sometimes makes it difficult to work across functions as not everyone sees the big picture

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Less internal reporting and better communication from marketing leadership.

No opinion of CEO

I have been working at IBM

    Pros

IBM will pay higher than market average or match any salary as long as you have good experiences to back them up.

    Cons

There is no room for career development. There is way too much politics involved. The process to get promoted is not straight forward.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Money is not everything. Career development should be considered as the most important goal for the company. Develop a mentor program.

    I worked at IBM

    Pros

    competitive salary
    3+4+5 travel policy
    SAP solution delivery leader/ innovator
    respected name in IT

    Cons

low prospects for salary growth unless it's tied to promotion (refer to headline)
in spite of significant layoffs in each of the past 3 years, too much fat remains in the middle mgt tier
    pervasive lack of quality managers
too many business opportunities squandered due to Partner rivalry for sales credit

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

IBM GBS is infested with non-productive middle management who either can't produce or don't know how to manage and develop teams. The shortfall of talent in this area is a real concern.
