Advice to Management

peer reviews
get advice from low level workers before promoting people to management; some times ( many times ) people are great to higher ups, but terrible to underlings

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

Decent bennies at ok salary for regular employees (for others, it's a completely different story). Flexibility of working from home was good. Some of the technologies being used are up-to-date; others are clearly legacy.

    Cons

The hardware market is shrinking for a company like IBM, and also the company is moving technical work offshore as quickly as possible. Don't get trapped in a dead end position, or think that this place will offer a career.

    Advice to Management

The employees have a tremendous amout of cynicism about management, and are tired of being whipped, exploited and lied to. Productivity falls significantly when using global teams. But nobody thinks you care.

Brainy and resilient techies, weak middle management.

    Approves of CEO

    Pros

Excellent place to start your professional carrier.
Great opportunities in advancing your management carrier if you’re a female or a minority.
Worthwhile grand vision by CEO and his office.

    Cons

Zero accountability: if a manager or lead professional fails, s/he gets promoted.
Weak middle-level leaders multiplie and accumulate; often special, useless positions are created to accommodate them.
CEO grand vision has difficulty finding real leaders (managers and professionals alike) who are able and empowered in advancing it to reality.

    Advice to Management

Stop appointing failed or inexperienced professionals into leadership positions because they begged for it for several years.
Provide clear level of accountability, especially, for middle-level leadership positions.
