I have been working at IBM

Pros

Excellent environment to gain and expose skills in varied parts of the business. No one need feel as though they are placed in a niche work environment- never to entertain other viable options (including world wide assignments) within organizations.

Cons

Lack of focus by management to recognise employee skills levels and assist placing them in appropriate roles within organization. Need to stop the 24x7x365 work day demands.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

There is a place for everyone in IBM - use your vast reach, world wide to place employees and businesses that ensure better employee retention while providing revenue; instead of "excising" employees to demonstrate better operational profits.

I have been working at IBM

    Pros

    - Great technology
    - Ability to switch and do something new every couple of years
    - Extensive training opportunities

    Cons

    - Salaries are not competitive
    - Lack of motivation and employees recognition from management

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Seams like management is using cost cutting as the only tool to get the numbers every year. This at the expense of Innovation and motivation, things that have characterized IBM through the years. If employees are well paid, and well treated and recognized there will be more productivity and quality as well as innovation. STG is too focus on numbers and not investing in the people. Turn things around and numbers will come. We have great products and professionals, motivate the professionals and treat them well. We will be making more business if we invest in the people that create the products, support them, teach them, and sale them.

I have been working at IBM

    Pros

IBM has some great technology and very solid rank and file employees. Overall benefits are good but are constantly being reduced.

    Cons

Below average salary and pay increases. Excessive management oversight with very little value from them. Very little actual control over success, you can work like a beast and be fired without cause. Very discouraging negative environment.

Most strong sales and marketing persons leave to make more money and not deal with the lack of respect by management.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Pay your employees timely and accurately. The bonus and commission plan is a joke and you know it.
