IBM now stands for Incredibly Bad Morale or I'm By Myself. What was a great place to work is now sad and dysfunctional.

I have been working at IBM full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Still some very bright and talented people left.
Have flexibility in setting work hours as long as salaried workers do 20% overtime.

Cons

Teammates are now considered competition due to regular layoffs.
Managers will tell you that upper management doesn't care about us.
Little risk taking or attempts at improving things because most think it is fruitless.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Hire managers that have actually done the work of the people they are "managing " and give them the autonomy to do what's right, not what saves shareholders $.02 per quarter. Reviewing pipeline spreadsheets is not managing. Return to investing in employees instead of buying and selling them.

    Pros

there is not mutch good about working for IBM. However, who you work with are good people and there are a lot of very good techs

    Cons

IBM is the cheapest company you will ever work for. EG if you want a keyboard and mouse at your desk you have to buy your own. the managements highest goal is to keep their bonuses. and they attcheve this by being unethical in how they treat their employees and customers.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

start being ethical in your business practice

    Pros

Great work life balance, great educational opportunites, great options for moving around and increasing your experience in many parts of the organization.

    Cons

Layoff offs exected every 6 months or possibly quarterly, dont expect to be there for very long anymore. Working there and retiring from there is a thing of the past

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Attracting good talent will be difficult going forward since there is no job security anymore.
