Pros

working at home is great. there is opp to move jobs/roles within the company. there a lot of great people working for IBM. great products.

Cons

too much process. first line managers are rarely qualified to lead (and they can decide your career!) there are too many mediocre people "hiding out" who are very comfortable but not motivated. The management team is aware of these people but rarely does anything about it, which is frustrating for the talented people.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Value your employees and they will reward you.

    Pros

Work life balance is good, treated as professionals as long as you meet deadlines. The mainframe is exciting as soon as you accept its not going away.

    Cons

Little to no formal training (must be a self-learner), non-transparent pay scale and rating system. Managers don't seem to care about moral.

Very competitive and thus lucrative to work for. Never ending supply of work and technical skills expansion. Management that more or less stays out of the way of technical personnel

    Cons

Difficult to keep track of opportunities in such a large organization. Need to develop a network of people all over the company to keep track of what's going on other wise something in your direct job arena may pass you by.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice
