Former Employee - Software Engineer in Austin, TX

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 5 years

Pros

The people that I worked with at IBM are truly some of the hardest working individuals that I know. At the team level, everyone is committed to producing a quality product while dealing with aggressive release cycles.

Cons

There doesn't seem to be as much camaraderie at the executive level that you will find at the team level. Competing business units' goals seem to get in the way of progress and tend to have a negative impact on overall morale.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Remember that is the people that make the company.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

well defined processes, international assignment opportunities if willing to move, able to keep redefining itself

    Cons

very slim workforce, often over worked and easy to burn out, promotions come with no pay increase, need to improve morale and incentives

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

improve employee morale with better incentives and better bonus plans and better pay increases. The pay for performance is not lived up to.
