I have been working at IBM full-time (more than 5 years)

Pros

If willing to work hard and make a difference work is recognized and promotion is real and feasible. Technology makes a difference. Amazing leadership education. Flexibility to move around because IBM is present in every country. Family feeling.

Cons

Pays low or industry average even as you move up. Sometimes processes are outdated as is tehnology used in house. Too many managers and often need to deal with heavy bureaucracy and politics.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

reward top talent monetarily or you will continue to loose out to competition

I worked at IBM full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

IBM vast resources to leverage in order to be productive - networks of experts, rich knowledge bases, and a rich pool of software tools to develop your products. IBM strengths in virtualization and information security gives it legs for the long run.

    Cons

There is some uncertainty as to which older products and services will remain strategic as IBM makes decisions in its current "transition" phase.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Be bold in shedding older products and services, and start new market-driven projects with an entrepreneurial approach in order to compete in with quickly moving companies.
