Pros

Great history, plenty of variety, truly embraces remote workers, decent pay (not for the sacrifice)

Cons

Oversells and under-delivers leaving teams too small to get the job done leading to over-worked and stressed teams. No ability to live in apartments while working in other cities. No ability to temporarily relocate. Training and vacation time work against you as your billable time is what matters the most to IBM (not the people)

Advice to Management

Focus on your people and less on the bottom line. Good people will continue to leave and revenue will be a challenge with lesser teams

    Pros

Diverse projects, travel opportunities, some training opportunities available.

    Cons

Your vacation cuts into your billable hours (At least in the consulting wing). WHich means, if you take the vacation days they lure you with - you have to make up those hours on another project. They treat their intellectual capital like machines, which is not how you compete for work. Terrible, terrible sales team & archaic practices for selling strategy & design. They have some real dinosaurs running consulting. Old school thinking, and no focus on employee development & happiness.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. We are not machines - we are human beings.

    Pros

Working on some of the most leading edge, exciting technology in the world. Chance to work with very intelligent people who are inventing the future.

    Cons

A little worried how much of a future this part (semiconductor design and manufacturing) of IBM has. Number of products has decreased in recent years, so there are a fair number of people 'looking for things to do'. Some recent layoffs in 2013 hurt morale.

    Advice to Management

More <honest> communication. There is communication, but some of it is a bit disingenuous and does not deal with the principle issues on the minds of people.
