I have been working at IBM full-time

Pros

Decent starting pay, decent benefits. Flexibility to work from home as needed

Cons

Everyone seems to be extremely overworked. My daily meetings on Friday usually involve 50% of the team saying "I hope to get done over the weekend". Also, moral is a joke, IBM really doesn't seem to care about having productive or happy employees. And, the continual fear of being RA'd (IBM speak for layoff)

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Wake up. If you keep marching towards roadkill 2015 and focus only on the stock price, you'll not have a company to worry about. Customers will keep leaving. Outsourcing jobs to cut costs won't save you when you have no customers.

I worked at IBM full-time (more than 5 years)

    Pros

well known company. working from home. flexible hours. it's good company to start a brand new career. But do not stick there for too long.

    Cons

it could be very stressful job due to production issues. below average pay. Terrible 401k vesting plan. typical 20% people doing 80% work. due to the remote work environment, a lot of slackers in the team. It ends up top performers do most of the work without real recognition since the promotion is based on seniority most of time. Management has no intention to keep top performer. The skill set is out of date for most team members. High level management has very comfy life. Most middle managers do not care. Even it's against company policy, I'm not surprised that some slackers are working on the second job at home office. Most of the jobs lost in US got shipped to low pay Indian employees. Even there are a lot of marketing hype about SmartCloud. The managed delivery team is a joke. They just cannot keep the customer satisfied since price premium is too high because of the brand name. Annual work ethics training worth nothing.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

You hired way too many slackers from Indian. Bring back the jobs to US. Reduce the total number of work force. Make everyone's work accountable somehow from existing remote work model. The existing workforce is not feeding the bottom line since they are either too old, or out dated, or not energized to contribute the common goal. Otherwise, IBM will be sinking fast.
