I worked at IBM full-time for less than a year

Pros

Have every product and service anyone could ever want

Cons

Not a friendly place to work. Way too much time spent on internal conference calls versus spending time with customers and prospects. Extreme pressure.

I worked at IBM full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Surrounded by the best and the brightest. Good place to be early in career, to learn and develop technical and management skills.

    Cons

Unless you are on fast track or have reached VP level, plus have strong support at very senior executive level, you are an expendable foot soldier no matter how hard you work or how much you accomplish. IBM is a highly political, zero sum game. Is now, always has been. Plus, today there are far fewer opportunities for advancement.

I have been working at IBM as a contractor for more than a year

    Pros

big company, 3 sites in Shanghai, u can make a lot of friends, salary is ok, compare in other company in Shanghai, it's above average.

    Cons

Politics are everywhere, company seems like hire people come from no-where, and pay much higher than some guy already worked for more than 7 years. And for control cost ,they build other sits in the west of china, and heard about will get lay off in soon.
