I have been working at IBM full-time (more than 10 years)

Pros

Global company with interesting consulting opportunities when you can get yourself aligned to participate and are willing to travel. Very focused on client success. Strong project management acumen. Ability to work from home when appropriate. Lots of training is available - most online / webinar. Lots of internal tools to connect and leverage social technology solutions.

Cons

At this time, multiple resource actions together with an aggressive change agenda has created a nervous culture... but I'm still optimistic.

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Change is hard; manage with care.

    I worked at IBM full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

    Competitive benefits, flexible work hours, multi-cultural work environment.

    Cons

    Internal IT support is inadequate. Standards and processes are there but are not implemented consistently across the different organizations. Surprisingly has bad technology infrastructure resulting to slow networks and sending/receiving emails getting delayed by 4-5 hours or more. Seasoned employees have very bad and unprofessional attitude towards their peers -would bad mouth their peers in front of clients so that they would appear to be good at doing their jobs.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

    Fix the network, enforce industry standards, fire self-serving employees, listen to the rank-in-file personnel's complaints.

    -Matrix organization
    -Development programs
    -Global focused
    -Very smart people

    Cons

    -Lack of leadership
    -Managers that do not develop, manage up not down
    -Everything is focused on shareholders, not clients

    If you treat your people well, everything else will flow to you
