I worked at IBM full-time (more than an year)

Pros

-Global recognized name and influence
-What works, works well
-Many bright people
-Opportunities to try new jobs inside IBM

Cons

-Layoffs (RA) keep coming in many different groups to meet Wall Street profit expectations
-You can get lost in the shuffle (dilbert in the stacks) if you are not vocal
-Some older management not able to "try new things"

Advice to ManagementAdvice

Listen more to your employees, create opportunities for younger employees to advance, don't have people stay with IBM into their late 60s and 70s if they cannot hack it!

Former Employee - First Line Sales Manager in Dallas, TX

I worked at IBM full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

Brand recognition. An Ok work environment but salary increases are a thing of the past. A great place holder for the last job on your resume.

    Cons

Long list. No salary increases, managers are required to cut 10% of their employees each year. Maniacal focus on expenses.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Quit and let's return to the values that made the company great by Tom Sr. IBM has lost its way, all in the name of its 2015 "Roadmap".
