Former Employee – worked at IBM
Pros – Sick time was excellent. Work from home opportunities. Chance to work on some interesting things. Campus was lovely, the food was adequate. The 401k is excellent, the stock purchasing program is excellent. Benefits were MUCH better 10 years ago, but they've gutted it for profit.
Cons – getting promoted is impossible. they really don't want American workers they want less than minimum wage slaves to do competitive work. Promotions are a good ol boys club. Most successful people in my 'generation of IBMers' were second generation IBMers.
Advice to Senior Management – Stop being evil, start building something of value again.
