I have been working at ICF International
Pros – ICF is a good place to start out, and the broad area of expertise that ICF covers means that employees can seek out new experiences and types of work if they have managers that are flexible and will let them do so.
Cons – There is very little direction and support from management in my experience, although from talking with other people within the company I know it varies greatly depending on your team. Being billable at all times is draining, and professional development and education suffers as a result. The company sometimes seems to be too profit-driven, to the point of losing site of keeping employees happy. I think burn-out is pretty common in some parts of the company.
Advice to Senior Management – Place more emphasis on making sure all managers communicate effectively with their employees, but also make sure that everyone has time to do so. Work to create a friendlier and more upbeat environment to help prevent burn-out. And offer flex-time! Especially in DC where about half the professional population also has it.
Yes, I would recommend this company to a friend
