I have been working at ICON

    Pros

Flexible working hours, private healthcare, office location is good, free parking (by rota), management listen to employees (but rarely action), company shows compassion, facilities are good

    Cons

Lack of communication between departments, workload and the pressure to complete it within a timeframe, disorganisation different software programs of which none do the job they are required to do, there is no consistency between managers, promotions appear to be given by time served or if required for a trial not by the individuals merit, salaries are not comparible with other CROs, dated technology,

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

ONE ICON doesn't exist, you are a huge company why not have specific software developed which encompasses every department instead of purchasing software that does not do what it is required to do (Planview for example). The ICON that i joined four years ago is very different to the ICON we have now and that is a shame. More consideration and value should be given to staff, ICON are happy to let someone with experience leave then let someone with no experience take over the role, this causes many complications further down the line. The new intranet home page has 'sticky' menus and does not provide half the information the last one did, did anyone consult the various departments before these changes were made? who on earth thought that this was an improvement? yes, it might look prettier but it doesn't function as well.
Perhaps if you consulted the team more on their requirements and suggestions less 'errors' would be made and less money wasted.
