Pros

If you're looking to stretch your potential in a large IT professional services organization, this is the place to be. Depending on your professional skills, you could stay within a particular group for years to deepen your knowledge and skill sets, and then move on to other groups to broaden your expertise. This is also the place to build your network and contacts within the organization and also with external partners in the IT industry. Very huge potential for knowing people from everywhere, if you put in the effort to build relationships well.

Cons

Intense pace, internal and external customers are demanding. A very small minority of leaders have been in the organizations for decades and this results in manners, attitude and cultural mindset unique to this organization's role, which would not fit well in the private sector. Not saying that they are doing a bad job - it's simply the result of staying too long (decades in some cases) in an organization.

    Pros

Being part of the organisation that set out and implement the infocomm masterplan for Sngapore. Playing a role in advancing the infocomm industry of Singapore
Helping both individuals and businesses to leverage infocomm
Working in an established organisation with many passionate people

    Cons

As with other government agencies, may be a bit too bureaucratic for people from the private sector.
As some of the projects are huge whole of Singapore/government projects involving multiple stakeholders, there may be times when you feel that progress is limited & you are running around in circles

I have been working at IDA full-time (more than 10 years)

    Pros

A work life balance workplace with plenty of budget for attending training.

    Cons

The HR management staff tend to be arrogant and not sensitive to staff feedback and concerns.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Review HR attitude and work processes. Revamp and replace, if necessary. There is room available for improving the organisation structure and productivity, e.g. more hands-on work, less unnecessary training.
