Free food and customers. Enjoyed the free range of managing a staff. Store owner was great and the GM. I really enjoyed working for IHOP.

Getting home late. Not having health insurance. Having affordable health insurance. Customers coming in 1 minute before closing. Call outs.

I worked at IHOP full-time (more than an year)

    Pros

The customers can be great, and some co-workers, too. Fairly flexible schedule.

    Cons

Management has absolutely no appreciation for the employees, they will work you like a dog and be upset if you don't constantly thank them for the opportunity. No room for advancement (most servers take a cut in pay to move into management). Expect to work every holiday. No paid time off. No benefits.

    Advice to ManagementAdvice

Food servers know what they signed up for, and therefore they know not to expect a raise or benefits, but a simple "I noticed you went above and beyond today, awesome!" or "I really like how you handled that situation" or "thank you for your hard work today" goes a long way.
